  • Does Fast Fusion cooling technology meet ASTM Standards?

Yes, ASTM F2620 allows the technology as an option for the user stating "Applying conditioned air is acceptable only as part of a controlled cooling cycle procedure where testing demonstrates that acceptable joints are produced using the controlling cooling cycle procedure."
    • Does Fast Fusion meet all the ASTM and ISO Standards for low, medium and high pressure fusion?

YES!  Fast Fusion supplies a Performance Weld Warranty to the users. We have NEVER had a failed weld.
      • How do you actually apply the Fast Fusion Cooling Technology?

Our CoolAdvantage product is connected to a conventional fusion machine through a set of halos in the internal jaws allowing the delivery of conditioned air to the weld site.  Operators follow exactly the same procedures as conventional fusion - when they finish the fusion and the cooling time begins the operator presses a single button to apply the air.  The PLC will display the new cooling time and will indicate when it is time to release the jaws.  In our MobileFusion Trac machines, the CoolAdvantage is built in the machine.
        • Is Fast Fusion Cooling Technology "unique." Is there a patent for it?

Yes, Fast Fusion Cooling Technology is unique - the confidential and proprietary information of Fast Fusion.  Our design is protected under several U.S. Patents, including U.S. Patent Nos. 6994766, 7294222, 7681924 and 7926534, or are subject of certain pending national and international patent applications.
          • How many people are required to operate the MFT machines  that have the FastLoad Patented Loading System?

-The answer is one person. That person operates the machine from inside the climate controlled cab and moves towards the pipe on the ground. The loading of each pipe is done from inside the cab and the exiting of the fused pipe is managed by the same operator. Site personal or assist machines are not needed. There is no safer method for pipe fusion.
            • How many years has Fast Fusion sold the MobileFusion Trac machines?

-The product was created in 2003 and the first machines were available by 2004. A great deal of end user input was involved in the creation.
              • Are there any weather conditions where the MobileFusion Trac machine will not be operational?

-Between our tracked system providing stability and the temperature-controlled, enclosed cab there is virtually never a time when an operator cannot fuse pipe.  “Tents” and “containers” are not the same – every operator who has tried these options on windy, wet, cold or hot days knows the radical difference in comfort, safety and efficiency provided by Fast Fusion machines.
                • What should the Fusion joint look like after applying the Fast Fusion Weld Bead Temperature Control?

-The appearance will look the same as what the operators have been trained to look for. Due to the Fast Fusion controller, this patented fully automatic process has established the time for cooling, the sound from the Fast Fusion process will tell the operator that the cooling cycle is complete.......as much as two to five times faster than conventional fusion time.
                  • Will I ever need to pull or drag the pipe to set up for another section of pipe to be fused?

-Using the MobileFusion Trac machine we never pull or drag the pipe. That is time savings and cost savings.
                    • Do MobileFusion Trac machines work in urban areas as well as rural areas?

-The answer is simply yes. It is easy to transport and secure enough to leave over night at locations where other heavy equipment would be safely kept. Although the "run" of pipe would be different in a city environment, quality fusion welds still MUST be the standard. The enclosed cab allows protection for the welds as well. And the added safety of this cab and no need for additional site personnel is another bonus.
                      • Once I am ready to buy, how long does it take to get my machine?

-Fast fusion is committed to have inventory available for quick shipment. However, sometimes the demand is greater than the supply.
                        • How do I get trained to operate the machine after it arrives?

-Fast Fusion provides an instructor/trainer to the job site where the machine is first delivered. The customer's training personnel will coordinate who needs to attend the class from machine operators to mechanics. A date will be set and Fast Fusion will stay on site until the training is completed and people are certified.
                          • Does Fast Fusion have a rental program?

-No, Fast Fusion will not rent out any of our machines.
                            • Is the look of the joint affected by the Fast Fusion Cooling Technology?

-The appearance should be the same as a joint created with a conventional fusion machine, with the exception the double-roll bead will show a little wave shape due to the air circulating in the heating zone. This doesn't affect the fusion integrity at all and can even be removed for applications like lining.
                              • Are there any tests for HDPE pipe fused with Fast Fusion Cooling Technology?

-Yes, there are several in different countries with the most important being:

                              • ISO 21307 - ISO 1167-1, ISO 1167-3 & ISO 1167-4 for long term 1,000 hr. 80C Testing

                              • ASTM F2634

                              • ASTM D638

                              • ASTM 714

                              • ASTM 2513-04a - 1,000 hr 80C Testing

                              • ASTM 1598-02

                              • These tests were accomplished using PE 2406, PE 3408, PE 80, PE 100 & PE 4710

                                • What is the temperature that should register when the joint is complete?

-Fast Fusion Cooling Technology finish the cooling time when the bead is 140 degrees Fahrenheit or less (60C or less).
                                  • How much productivity do you gain using the Fast Fusion CoolPack with your conventional fusion machine?

-It will always depend on the wall thickness of the pipe. The thicker the pipe, the more you will gain using Fast Fusion Cooling Technology. Normally you will double your productivity. The Fast Fusion team is always willing to prepare estimations for you using either U.S. or International Fusion Standards.
                                    • How much productivity do you gain using Fast Fusion MobileFusion Trac machine?

-With the MFT machines, you will get the same cooling technology with the CoolPack built in. However, you will gain a lot of productivity picking up the pipe and loading into the fusion machine in a few minutes without any equipment or additional labor. You will reduce weather influenced downtime by working inside a climate-controlled cabin.
                                      • Can Fast Fusion work with any fusion machine in the market?

-Yes, we don't compete with fusion machines, we concentrate our efforts on enhancing the fusion process. Our machines can be hooked up to any fusion machine in the market.
                                        • Can I expedite cooling time by using other means of supplying air, like a fan or A/C Unit?

-No, the Fast Fusion Cooling Technology delivers pressurized air flow that is controlled by flow rate, pressure, pattern, temperature and duration. The technology allows the control of the weld bead temperature which the machine monitors and makes the adjustments needed. Each weld made with an ambient temperature from minus 45 Fahrenheit (-43C) to plus 140 Fahrenheit (60C) the air used is automatically adjusted to maintain ratios of hot, warm, or cooler air.
